Elizabeth Scrace - Director Appointed March 2025
Director
My name is Elizabeth and I am one of the Directors of Nest Cornwall CIC. Although I am now retired, I spent more than forty years working within education in a variety of roles and settings.
Early in my career, I worked with the YMCA at their Outdoor Activity Centre before later returning to classroom teaching in several primary schools. In the later stages of my career, I specialised in pastoral care, behaviour support, and working with children with additional and special educational needs.
Throughout my career, I have seen how important it is for children to feel safe, understood, and valued. I believe outdoor learning and nurturing environments can provide children with the space they need to build confidence, emotional awareness, and positive relationships.
For many children, particularly those who may struggle within traditional educational settings, being outdoors can reduce anxiety, encourage communication, and help them reconnect with learning in a way that feels accessible and supportive.
Nest Cornwall CIC holds a very personal meaning for our family. Our granddaughter attended Nest Cornwall CIC for over a year, and we witnessed first-hand the positive impact it had on her wellbeing, self-esteem, and confidence. The support and environment she experienced helped her feel secure enough to take the important step into secondary school with greater confidence and belief in herself.
I am passionate about ensuring every child has the opportunity to feel accepted, supported, and able to thrive in their own way.
